WAKE was published in the print edition of Canoe Lake Memories.
In your presence/ my heart unspools./ Catch the glistening thread/ and hold a beat./ I feel the tug,/ the tension,/ a struggle,/ and release./ I’ve removed the hook/ from all my lures/ Just to watch you swim/ along in my wake.
Author’s Note: I was honored to have this poem become part of an anthology dedicated to the work of Canadian paddler, poet, and artist Thom Thompson.
